Parafly Paragliding is located at Sharp Park (Cobble Hill), 204 Cobble Hill Road in Milton, 10 miles north of Burlington. It is the only paragliding training facility in Vermont. They supply all necessary equipment for lessons including the paraglider, harness and helmet and a radio for instruction. Rick Sharp and Ruth Masters have been teaching paragliding on Cobble Hill since 1991. They have taught over 650 people to fly paragliders with only three injuries that needed medical attention. Open from late April to mid-November each year, they need northwest wind at 12 mph or less to teach beginners. Since it is difficult to predict weather more than about 3 days in advance they teach those interested in lessons by notifying them 24 to 72 hours in advance of good flying conditions by email. To get on their email alert list email them at the email address listed below. They offer a one lesson package (7 a.m. to 11:30 or 2 p.m. to dusk) for $150.00. They also offer a Para 2 (solo package) including a rating from the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA) for $850.00. In that package you continue lessons until you achieve your Para 2 rating no matter how long that takes. They also sell and service paragliding equipment to properly rated pilots with at least a Para 2 rating.
