Waterfront Park is Burlington’s newest and most popular park. It is accessible from College Street and extends northward almost a mile and a half. It has a boardwalk with swinging chairs and great views of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, 12 miles across the lake. It also features a fishing pier just north of the Coast Guard Station. The Old Moran Electric Generating Plant is the large dilapidated brick structure just north of the pier. It is slated for renovation in 2017. The Skateboard Park is just north of Moran and then the Community Sailing Center. Burlington’s waterfront event space is located just north of the boardwalk. It features a different event almost every weekend during the summer. Check Events for a complete listing. The area north of the Community Sailing Center is known as the North 40 Reserve. It includes a dog park. The Burlington Bicycle Path runs through Waterfront Park just west of the railroad tracks. See Waterfront Park as one of the nine pillars of Burlington (About Burlington tab) for an interesting history of the Park and a full description.
