Whistling Man Schooner offers an intimate three hour sailing adventure on Lake Champlain. Its berth is on the docks just west of the ECHO Museum at the foot of College Street within easy walking distance of downtown hotels. Skipper Mike Crowley provides guests with an interesting historical prospective of Burlington, the harbor and surrounding landscape from a lake perspective. Ask him anything. He is a wealth of information about Burlington and Lake Champlain. If you have never been on a sailing ship before or you are an experienced sailor yourself you will find his boat handling skills to be superb and his friendly demeanor entertaining. Bring a bottle of wine and snacks if you like. Dress warmly in layers and be prepared for an exhilarating experience if a brisk wind is blowing. Sailing adventures begin at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and last three hours, rain or shine, wind or calm (he has a motor too). Look for the Whistling Man Schooner sign at the end of College Street in front of the Burlington Boat house. Don’t be late, the schooner sails on time.
